Accountability For Fresno County Schools

The Superintendency has been my vision since 1995, when I left a successful management  career with UPS to begin serving in education. That vision became focused on the Fresno  County Superintendent of Schools role in 2013, when I began serving as an Executive  Leadership Coach and Director of Charter Schools.

With 30 years of service to Fresno County schools, and 60 years of living, learning,  and raising my family here, I am uniquely prepared for this role. In short: I am Fresno  County, and I am ready to serve.

For many years, I asked myself if I was ready. Early on, the answer was “not yet.” I knew I  had more to learn. Now, after serving as a teacher, principal at the elementary, middle, and  high school levels, University Professor, and district leadership roles including Chief  Academic Officer, Assistant Superintendent, and Regional Vice-President / Superintendent,  the answer is a clear: yes.

My experience spans seven Fresno County school districts as an employee and 20  districts as an employee, coach, trainer, or consultant. I have also supported staff and  students across California and the nation, building lasting relationships that have impacted  tens of thousands of students.

Along the way, I’ve led teams that produced measurable results:

Lincoln Elementary

+ 28pts.*

Kastner Intermediate

+ 41pts.*

Bullard High School

Lang +14%† Math +30%†

Parlier Unified

Lang +3%† Math +3%†

* Numbers in reference to the Academic Performance Index

† Increase in Academic Proficiency Rates

These achievements reflect the power of teamwork. As former Clovis Unified Assistant  Superintendent Jeanne Hatfield once said, I have “the Midas touch.” But I know true  success comes from building strong teams, establishing clear goals, and creating  systems that endure.

I carry with me the South African concept of Ubuntu: “I am because of you.” My career has  been shaped by mentors, colleagues, and the communities I’ve served. Together, we have  shown that intentional goals, solid systems, and shared purpose can transform schools.

As we approach the June 2026 primary election, I humbly ask for your support as the next  Fresno County Superintendent of Schools. Together, we can build safer, stronger  schools and brighter futures for every student, family, and community in Fresno County.
